Privacy Policy

1. Information We Do Not Collect

By default, StudyLock does not collect any personal or non-personal information. Users can use the app and all its core features, including the AI StudyBuddy, without providing any identifiable data to us.

1a. AI StudyBuddy Feature

The StudyBuddy chat feature processes your input locally and via AI services to generate educational responses. We do not collect, store, or have access to any of the content you provide to the StudyBuddy. All study materials and chat inputs remain on your device and are not linked to your identity.

1b. Focus Mode (Attention Detection)

Focus Mode uses the device camera solely to detect whether you are looking at the screen during study. All attention detection is processed entirely on your device. StudyLock does not record, store, or transmit any images, video, or biometric data. No camera data leaves your device, and nothing is saved or shared with third parties.

The camera input is used only in real time to determine the current attention state (looking at the screen vs. looking away). This information is processed ephemerally and is immediately discarded after use. No facial images, depth maps, face geometry, or biometric identifiers are created, retained, or analyzed beyond the immediate attention check.

StudyLock does not use this feature for identification, authentication, profiling, analytics, advertising, tracking, or personalization. No attention data is linked to a user’s identity, account, email address, or Study Group membership.

Focus Mode is optional, disabled by default for each new study session, and can be enabled or disabled by the user at any time.

2. Optional Data Collection for Study Groups

If you choose to join a Study Group, we may collect your email address through Google or Microsoft sign-in. This is used solely for group functionality, such as verifying access and syncing your study group status.

2a. Optional Student Sign-In for Teacher Portal Connection

If you choose to connect your study session results with the StudyLock Teacher Portal for teacher-guided sessions, you may be asked to sign in using Sign in with Apple. This is used solely to associate your study session results with a teacher-guided session and to display those results in the teacher’s dashboard.

If you do not connect to the Teacher Portal, you can use StudyLock without signing in.

3. Use of Information

Any email address collected, if any, is used exclusively to enable optional Study Group features or to connect study session results with the StudyLock Teacher Portal when you choose to do so. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties. No data from the AI StudyBuddy chat is collected, stored, or shared.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share or disclose any user information unless legally required to do so.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect any user data related to Study Groups. While no app can guarantee absolute security, your privacy and data integrity are important to us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your Study Group email only as long as necessary for group functionality. You can request removal at any time by contacting us.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. All changes will be posted on this page.

8. Your Consent

By using StudyLock, you consent to this Privacy Policy. If you join a Study Group, you consent to limited data collection as described above.
