1. Introduction

Welcome to StudyLock. By accessing or using our application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Definitions

App: The StudyLock mobile application.
User: Anyone who downloads, installs, or uses the App.
Content: Any data, text, study material, images, or other information used within the App.

2a. Additional Definitions (Teacher Portal)

Teacher Portal: The StudyLock web dashboard allows teachers to create study plans, share QR codes, and review results.
Teacher: A user who creates or accesses a Teacher Portal account.
Student: A user who joins a teacher-guided session via QR or other invitation method.
Teacher Content: Any text, prompts, lesson titles, instructions, materials, or other content created or uploaded by a Teacher in the Teacher Portal.
Teacher-Guided Session: A StudyLock session started by a Student based on a Teacher’s plan, for example via QR, which may include quiz requirements and results tracking.

3. User Responsibilities

• Use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with applicable laws.
• Do not upload content that is harmful, illegal, or infringes on third-party rights.
• Do not attempt to disrupt or exploit the App or its users.
• Use the StudyBuddy chat feature only for educational purposes.
• Verify any information provided by the StudyBuddy before relying on it.

4. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, and functionality of the App are the property of the StudyLock team. You may use the App only for personal, non-commercial purposes unless given express written permission.

5. Use of the App

• Do not reverse engineer or modify any part of the App.
• Do not resell, sublicense, or distribute the App without permission.

5a. Focus Mode

Focus Mode is an optional feature designed to help users stay focused during study. The behavior of Focus Mode may vary depending on device capabilities, permissions, and user settings. StudyLock does not guarantee uninterrupted study sessions when Focus Mode is enabled and is not responsible for sessions ending due to attention detection.

5b. Teacher Portal and Teacher Responsibilities

• The Teacher Portal is intended for educational use. Teachers are responsible for how they use the Teacher Portal and for any Teacher Content they create or share.
• Teachers confirm they have the necessary rights and permissions to upload or share any materials, including copyrighted text, worksheets, images, or excerpts.
• Teachers are responsible for ensuring that any students they invite or instruct to use StudyLock are permitted to do so under applicable school policies and laws.
• We may remove or restrict access to Teacher Content or Teacher accounts if we believe it violates these Terms or applicable law.

6. Data Collection and Privacy

The StudyLock mobile application does not collect personal data by default. Personal data may be processed only when a user voluntarily signs in to join a study group or teacher-guided session using a third-party sign-in method, such as Sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft.

Student sign-in is required only when a user chooses to connect their study results with the StudyLock Teacher Portal. In such cases, Sign in with Apple is used to associate study session results with a teacher-guided session.

The StudyLock Teacher Portal is a separate web service. When using the Teacher Portal, limited personal data may be processed to create and manage teacher accounts, subscriptions, study plans, and session results.

6a. Student Data and Educational Use

• Teachers are responsible for obtaining any required permissions or consents before asking students to use StudyLock, including where students are minors.
• Teachers should avoid uploading sensitive personal information about students into Teacher Content.
• Students should not upload confidential, medical, legal, or highly sensitive personal information into the App.

7. AI StudyBuddy Feature

The StudyBuddy chat is an optional educational tool that generates responses based on your input.

StudyBuddy outputs may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for every context. Users are responsible for verifying any responses before relying on them.

StudyLock does not collect, store, or have access to any of the inputs or outputs provided in the StudyBuddy chat. All interaction data remains on your device and is not linked to your identity.

The StudyBuddy should not be used for sensitive, medical, legal, or emergency-related advice.

7a. AI Outputs and Teacher Content

When Teachers create plans or Students use AI-based features, such as AI StudyBuddy, outputs are generated automatically and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Teachers and Students are responsible for reviewing and verifying outputs before relying on them in educational contexts.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The App and Teacher Portal are provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, or that AI-generated outputs, including summaries, quizzes, or chat responses, will be accurate or complete. You are responsible for verifying outputs and for how you use them.

StudyLock is not responsible for academic outcomes, grading decisions, classroom management, or compliance with school policies. To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudyLock will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from or related to your use of the App or Teacher Portal.

8a. Subscriptions, Billing, and Renewals (Teacher Portal)

• All Teacher Portal features require a paid subscription. Pricing and available plans are shown on the paywall or checkout page at the time of purchase.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the end of the current billing period.
• Billing is processed by third-party providers, for example Stripe and/or RevenueCat. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Unless required by law, we do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.
• We may change prices or available plans in the future. If a change affects an existing subscription, we will provide notice through the website/app or via the billing provider where required.

9. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be communicated through the app or website. Continued use of the App implies acceptance of the updated Terms.
